SATURDAY, MAY 17, 2008 was an evening of glamour and excitement as we crowned Mrs. Michigan United States® 2008 Heidi Scheer! It will truly a night to remember for our ladies and especially for our winner!!!
Mrs. Michigan United States® 2008 is the recipient of a prize package valued at nearly $15,000 including an expense-paid trip to represent our state at the 2008 Mrs. United States® Pageant in glamorous Las Vegas, Nevada! And just like last year's Mrs. Michigan, she could become the next Mrs. United States®!
The Mrs. Michigan United States® Pageant is a preliminary to the Mrs. United States® Pageant, the premier pageant for married women since 1986!

What were the final results of the 2008 pageant?
Congratulations Mrs. Michigan United States 2008, Heidi Scheer! Representing Oakland County in the pageant, Heidi and her husband Doug reside in Commerce Township along with their three children Carson (8), Gannon (7), and Ella (4). Heidi is the owner of The Royal Treatment Boutique and is co-owner of Scheer Genius Productions with her husband. Together they perform, educate, and reach out to thousands of Michigan’s youth. Heidi is a national spokesperson for Autism Recovery. She has met with Governor Granholm to establish April 5th as Autism Intervention Day and has participated in rallies from Lansing to Washington D.C. As a Rescue Angel for Generation Rescue, she has served as a contact for parents looking for guidance in treating their children’s autism. As Mrs. Michigan, her outreach work will be on behalf of The Autism Society of America, the Autism Research Institute, Defeat Autism Now!, and the Judson Center.

Who was on the judging team?
Auditor – Jeffrey L. Williams: Jeff Williams has enjoyed a twenty-year career in finance and accounting and is an award-winning author and publisher. He serves as the Chief Financial Officer for a private university and holds BA and Master’s degrees from the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University, respectively.
Head Judge – Charissa Payer: Charissa Payer is an Ohio native. As an attorney, she has practiced law in Ohio, Massachusetts, and Florida for over 13 years. Since 1999, Charissa has served Ohio as an Assistant Attorney General. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Youngstown State University, a Master's degree from the Ohio State University, and her law degree from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law.
Charissa's pageant career began in 1978 when she competed for the title of Little Miss United States. For 11 years, she competed at the local, state, and national level in many pageant systems, including the Miss America Organization. After 18 years in pageant retirement, Charissa re-entered pageantry at age 39 and has since earned two national titles: Beauties of America's 40s 2006 and she is the reigning Ms. United America 2007. She is an active pageant judge for the Sunburst USA Beauty Pageant system and has judged state preliminaries for the Miss America pageant system in Ohio and Texas. She has appeared as a spokesperson for pageantry on television and in print.
Judge – Francesca Tuzzolino: Francesca Tuzzolino holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a focus in Management and Marketing from Wayne State University. She is the Ford Lead Recruiter for the Bartech Group located in Bingham Farms. Francesca is married and resides in Farmington Hills.
Not only does Francesca bring to us this evening her business background but she also is experienced in pageantry and dance. She has danced for 22 years of her life, studying various forms of the art. Her love of performance led her to the Miss America Pageant program as a former contestant for six years. Not only does she have experience as a contestant but she has also been the choreographer for the Miss Columbus Day and Miss India pageants. She is a former Miss Calabria 1994 and Miss Columbus Day 2000. Now she holds the position of Executive Director for the Miss Oakland County Scholarship Program, preliminary to Miss Michigan and Miss America and is a Certified Miss America Judge.
2008 has been a great year for Francesca due her good fortune of being the local director for our current Miss America, Kirsten Haglund, who was Miss Oakland County before becoming Miss Michigan and then taking home the Miss America crown!
Judge – Dr. Ayoub Sayeg, M.D.: A well respected plastic surgeon in Michigan since 2002, Dr. Sayeg received his medical degree from the University of Toronto and served his general surgery residency at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D. C. Immediately following completion of that residency program, Dr. Sayeg did a medical mission in La Romana, Dominican Republic with Dr. J. William Little of Georgetown University. Dr. Sayeg served his plastic surgery residency at Wayne State University in Detroit from 1998 to 2000.
In 1998, he completed a microsurgery course at the University of Louisville, in 2000 he participated in a rhinoplasty symposium and workshop in Dallas, and later that year he worked at the famous and prestigious Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital. From 2000 - 2001, he participated in a fellowship in aesthetic, breast, and reconstructive surgery at the Charlotte Plastic Surgery Center in North Carolina with some of the most prominent endoscopic and breast surgeons.
Dr. Sayeg has published several articles in his specialty and has made presentations at international and local medical meetings. In addition to being a Wayne State University alumnus, Dr. Sayeg is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Liposuction Surgery, American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.
Dr. Sayeg, who performs most of his plastic surgery at the Sayeg Plastic Surgery Center in Troy, currently holds hospital appointments at the Oakwood Healthcare System (Dearborn), Providence Hospital (Southfield) and the Dearborn Surgical Center. He is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and is Cosmetic and Breast Fellowship Trained.
Dr. Sayeg is married with three children.
Judge – Syndee Baris: Syndee is a professional model, dancer, and florist is the current Ms. North America 2008 and will represent the Silver State at the United Nation National/International Pageant this July in Salt Lake City Utah. Ms. Baris will be competing for the Ms. United Nation U.S. Title.
Ms. Baris is no stranger to the competition stage as she has held such awards and titles as: Ms. Nevada United Nation 07 – Most Photogenic, Best Costume and VIP Delegate Award, Ms. West Coast Galaxy 06 - Top 10/Best In Swimwear, Mrs. Clark County America 05-1st Runner up for Mrs. Nevada America 05, Ms. Nevada Globe 04-Top 15, Miss Tri State, International Model of the Year -1st Place, Miss Black New York America, Miss Black America-2nd Runner up, Miss New York USA - Miss Congeniality. A professional cheerleader for the world renowned Donald Trump football team the New Jersey Generals and International Soccer team the Cosmos.
Syndee has had the honor of traveling all over the world along with gracing many a stage in the large production shows on the Las Vegas Strip. Syndee's International dance travels include such places as: Bahamas, Cancun, St. Thomas, Italy, Greece, Jamaica, China, Costa Rica, Cozumel and the Grand Cayman Islands; and has played the part of Cleopatra at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas Nevada. Ms. Baris has graced the stages of the Riviera, Rio, Harrah's, Stardust and the Luxor Hotel Resort Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada and Harrah's Resort Hotel & Casino in Laughlin Nevada, an International Production produced by Fernando Quevedo of Q. Productions Las Vegas.
Ms. Baris is a Christian Children Charity Fund sponsor and currently sponsors two children. Syndee has just donated her time to walk in the March of Dimes Walk America to raise money for Birth Defects, Making Strides against Breast Cancer, Coats for Kids and the Great Santa Run. Syndee spreads her community service time between The Ronald McDonald House and Opportunity Village.
Judge – Lisa Bowman: Lisa Bowman works as a professional commercial print model in the Detroit, Chicago, New York, and Atlanta markets.
Lisa is owner of Pure Birmingham, a lifestyle studio offering corporate consultation services and personal enhancement opportunities such as visual branding, interview coaching and communications, poise, fitness, and nutrition as well as traditional spa services.
She lives with her three teenagers, Jake (17); Shane (15); and Alexa (13), in Birmingham.
In addition to her many accomplishments, Lisa Bowman is our very own Mrs. Michigan United States® 1997.
When and where did the 2008 pageant take place?
The 2008 Mrs. Michigan United States® Pageant took place Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the beautifully restored Trenton Village Theatre, a 400-seat art deco-style historic treasure in picturesque riverfront Trenton, Michigan (approximately 20 minutes south of downtown Detroit off of I-75). Doors opened at 6:00 p.m. and the curtain went up at 7:00 p.m. This year, the theme of our pageant was "Hot Latin, Cool Jazz!" and it was an upbeat, colorful show full of music and dance. The theatre is located at 2447 West Jefferson Avenue in Trenton. You can click here to view maps to the theatre and obtain driving directions from your location. An afterglow celebration took place immediately following the pageant at The Hotel Grill, located just a few doors south of the theatre at 2651 West Jefferson Avenue in Trenton.

Are current titleholders from other states or pageant systems and former Mrs. Michigan United States® titleholders welcome at the state pageant?
At this time, complimentary tickets can be provided to former Mrs. Michigan United States® titleholders only (limit one ticket per titleholder). All former Mrs. Michigan United States® titleholders are asked to contact us in advance to reserve their free VIP seating ticket. VIP tickets may be claimed at the Will Call desk. Any guests attending with you will be required to purchase a ticket separately. Former Mrs. Michigan United States® titleholders are asked to wear their banners if possible but please, no crowns.
Current visiting titleholders from other states or systems should sign in at the registration desk. We encourage all visiting titleholders to wear their crowns and banners but do ask that you consider the viewing comfort of others when deciding whether to wear your crowns in the theatre while competition is taking place.
All current visiting titleholders and former Mrs. Michigan United States® winners will be invited to join us onstage to briefly introduce yourselves to the audience.
