2011 Mrs. Michigan United States® Pageant

SATURDAY, MAY 21, 2011 was an evening of glamour and excitement as we crowned Mrs. Michigan United States® 2011! It was truly be a night to remember for our ladies and especially for our winner!!! The theme of the 2011 pageant production was "Michigan, My Michigan! America, My Home!" and featured exciting song and dance tributes to our state and nation.

Once again this year, the Mrs. Michigan United States Pageant will be televised in the major metro-Detroit market! The pageant will be taped for television and will air 12 - 15 times over the summer. Stay tuned to this website for telecast dates and times in your area!

Mrs. Michigan United States® 2011 is the recipient of a prize package valued at nearly $15,000 including an expense-paid trip to represent our state at the 2011 Mrs. United States® Pageant in glamorous Las Vegas, Nevada! And she could become the next Mrs. United States®!

What were the final results of the 2011 pageant?


Congratulations Mrs. Michigan United States 2011, Annette Kelly! Representing Southeastern Michigan in the pageant, Annette serves as an advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Michigan Autism Insurance Reform Coalition. She is committed to providing a voice for mothers of special needs children. Her journey with her two boys inspired her platform: “Parents Plus, Restoring Hope for Parents with Special Needs Children". Annette has been married to Dan for nine years. They are blessed with two sons, Jack (six) and William (three).

First Runner-Up is Mrs. Washington Township Kimberly Hodsdon,

Third Runner-Up is Mrs. Kensington Valley Krista Duffin, and

Who was on the judging team?

Auditor – Dwayne Harrigan: Dwayne holds a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University as well as a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Michigan State University. He has nearly 20 years of financial experience and is currently Director of Finance for Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority. He is a member of the Michigan Government Finance Officers’ Association and International City / County Management Association. Dwayne is married with two sons and a daughter and is an avid Detroit Red Wings fan.

Head Judge – Dayna Clark: Dayna Clark delivers the “Morning Drive” news on the “Great Voice of the Great Lakes” every weekday on Newstalk 760 WJR. She has been a member of the news team for five years.

Prior to making her home on WJR, Dayna kept you up-to-date every morning on “The Tom Joyner Morning Show”, giving listeners the latest news, traffic, and weather for six years. She has also worked for many years doing commercials and narrating for various car companies at The North American International Auto Show.

A native New Yorker, Dayna was born in Queens and graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts. As she traveled across the country, Dayna ate her way through all types of food – she loves to eat and would secretly love to be a food critic! Dayna volunteers for several organizations and gets great joy from helping others. She loves being mother to her two children and feels it’s her greatest accomplishment.

In addition to her many accomplishments, Dayna is our very own 1st runner-up, Mrs. Michigan United States 1992.

Judge – Janet Blair: Janet Blair is the founder and president of the Tri-County Business Exchange and the Successfully Single Social Club. Janet belongs to numerous business networking groups and, through these networking efforts, she realizes the demand for more affordable ways for entrepreneurs to connect with other business professionals and build their businesses. Her after-work networking group, the Tri-County Business Exchange (www.t-cbe.com) meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Troy Quality Inn.

Successfully Single, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of single adults. Successfully Single (www.successfullysingle.org) holds weekly events around the city for singles of all ages. Their wide range of events span from dances, sporting events, golf outings, wine tastings, theater, euchre tournaments, recreational activities, and vacations.

Successfully Single is probably best known for hosting Dancing with the Local Stars, a charity benefit which brings local celebrities and dance professionals together from around the Metropolitan Detroit area. Both the Mrs. Michigan United States 2009 Jeannette Greco Pawlowski and Mrs. Michigan United States 2010 Kyla Marcial participated in recent events. Kyla Marcial won 1st Place in the Celebrity Dance Competition at the last Dancing with our Local Stars in October 2010, which attracted a full house of 900 guests at the San Marino Club.

Judge – Gerry Zonca: Gerry Zonca is an Emmy-nominated television producer and former Internet Manager for WDIV-TV. Prior to that, he served as an Account Executive and Strategic Planning Analyst for Detroit Coca-Cola.

An alumnus of The University of Michigan, Gerry began his media career by producing highlight videos for the National Champion Michigan Basketball team and the Rose Bowl winning Michigan Football Team. He also produced a best-selling record album for Coach Bo Schembechler that chronicled Michigan's run for the Rose Bowl. He has produced seven television specials and three record albums.
After leaving WDIV-TV, he formed The Interactive Media Group which designs websites and is involved in music, television and film production. In addition, Gerry is the Director of the USA Swing Dance Network, the largest dance competition network in America.

Most recently, Gerry produced a special inspirational theme song entitled, "Light Up Detroit". It was featured in the opening ceremonies of this year's Mrs. Michigan United States Pageant.

Judge – Kay Ready: Kay Ready is the owner / publisher of Today’s Essential Woman magazine, which won the TieCon 2010 business award for media. She is also a business coach who helps business owners promote their business through marketing and advertising. As a business owner herself, she knows how important it is to market your business. She is very passionate about helping small businesses succeed.

Kay studied Business Management at Baker College and is currently pursuing a degree in Marketing. She resides in Rockwood with her four beautiful children and her wonderful husband, Hilton Ready.

Judge – JoAnn Lingenfelter: JoAnn Lingenfelter is a resident of Clarkston, Michigan. She has been employed in various capacities with St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for nearly 30 years. She is hard working volunteer in the Miss Oakland County Scholarship Program, a preliminary to Miss Michigan and Miss America, having served as secretary for 10 years and the past six years as Judge Chairman. JoAnn also served as a volunteer in the surgical lounge after retiring and in many duties at her church. She has a passion for loving family and friends including her three siblings. JoAnn also has three nieces that she is very proud of (two are married to wonderful new nephews) and two great nieces.
