Monica MacKenzie, Mrs. East Central Michigan United States® 2010

Monica has been married for nine fabulous years to her husband Matthew. They share two vibrant children: Carmyn (5) and Austin (8).

Family is the backbone to their lives. The MacKenzies pride themselves in establishing good family values and emphasizing the need for community service. Pageantry has been another vehicle to enlighten Monica's children that we, as human beings, need one another.

She recently finished a two year term with the National Health Service Corps. Monica's platforms focus encompass several healthcare topics including increasing accessibility to healthcare and Go Red For Women via the American Heart Association.

She is a proud graduate of Michigan State University and holds a master's degree in nursing. She practices family medicine and has recently acted as a preceptor for master's degree students from the University of Michigan and SVSU.

In Monica's spare time, she enjoys scrapbooking, camping, traveling to exotic hidden paradises and watching an array of sporting events. She believes that we all have special talents that are imperative to those around us! It is just a matter of having the resources to reach out and touch the community.
