Kendra Nichols, Mrs. Central Michigan United States® 2010
Kendra believes that today's children are tomorrow's success! As the director of Baker College of Owosso's Early Learning Center for nine years, She can be quoted in saying that she feels she has the best job anyone could ask for: educating and spending time with children! She has advocated on the steps of the Michigan State Capitol to increase funding for the education of young children so they can be successful both in school and in life.
Another way Kendra works toward this goal is that she finds enjoyment in coaching youth in sideline and competitive cheerleading always encouraging them to strive and perform their best.
Kendra is the proud business owner of Millennium Lawn & Snow Service and has a bachelor's degree in business administration and an associate degree in early childhood education. However, she knows the importance of being a life-long learner and is currently taking classes to receive a bachelor's degree in early childhood education.
Kendra and her husband, Jim, reside in Owosso and are the proud parents of three children and their “fur-kids,” four retired greyhounds. As a family, they enjoy traveling to various locations around Michigan sharing and educating others on the facts and benefits of greyhound adoption. In addition, Kendra and her family devote a great deal of time volunteering for G.R.A.C.E.: Greyhound Retirement Adoption Care and Education and The American Red Cross Mobile Food Pantry. She is a mentor for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization and works tirelessly with The Shiawassee Great Start Collaborative raising funds and an awareness for early childhood education including The Shiawassee Preschool Scholarship Program.
