Celeste P. Martin, Mrs. Washtenaw County United States® 2008

Celeste was born in Michigan and grew up in Alabama on a farm with her older brother and grandparents. She attended Calhoun High School and was a member of the track team, softball team, and debating team.

After graduating, Celeste attended Trenholm College in Montgomery and studied business accounting. She married and moved to Landover, Maryland for six years. Celeste had three children: Morgan, Christopher and Patrice, and acquired a nurses' assistant certification. She moved to Michigan with her children in 1987 and started a new chapter in life.

Celeste then became a welder for six years and acquired two homes. She married her husband Thomas Martin in 1993. They added Thomas Jr. to their family in 1995.

Celeste then completed training as a flight attendant and fell in love with it. Flying has provided her with not only opportunities to travel with her family, but also to gain education on different cultures throughout the world and how they impact life for us all.

Celeste feels that travel opens our eyes, opens our minds, and opens our hearts with understanding as well.
